Healthcare jobs are at the top of the list of the best-paid occupations in the US.
There is a shortage of professionals and the COVID-19 pandemic has made this more evident. To get around the situation, the US government is seeking the help of foreign talent to fill these vacancies.
In addition to good pay, these professionals tend to have more autonomy, prestige and appreciation than workers in the Brazilian labor market.
This is the topic covered in the D4U Cast. Wagner Pontes, founder of D4U USA Group, and Paula Kasparian, the group’s communications director, portray some of the best-paid professions in the health sector and explain what professionals need to do to work in the USA, such as validating their diploma and documentation.
They also stress the importance of professionals doing their own research into positions and salaries based on the region in which they are interested in living and working, as the values vary greatly between American states.
Salaries of anesthesiologists in the United States
At the top of the ranking are anesthesiologists, with an average annual salary of $261,000. Professionals trained in Brazil need to validate their diploma to work in the US. A curious fact is that a Brazilian nurse can specialize in the United States to work as an anaesthetist, with a starting salary of US$ 172 thousand.
Surgeons’ salaries
Other well-paid professionals are surgeons, who earn an average of US$252,000, and dentists, but these cannot validate their diploma in the USA and they have to go back to college and study dentistry again for two or three years, depending on the state they choose. The average annual salary for a dentist is US$150,000 and for an orthodontist it reaches US$230,000.
