Healthcare jobs top the list of the highest paying occupations in the US.
There is a shortage of professionals and the COVID-19 pandemic has made the scenario more evident. To get around the situation, the US government seeks the help of foreign talent to fill these vacancies.
In addition to good remuneration, these professionals tend to have more autonomy, prestige and appreciation than workers in the Brazilian labor market.
This is the topic covered in D4U Cast. Wagner Pontes, founder of D4U USA Group, and Paula Kasparian, director of communications for the group, portray some of the highest-paying professions in the health area and explain what the professional needs to do to work in the US, such as diploma validation and documentation.
They also reinforce the importance of professionals doing their own job and salary research based on the region of interest to live and work, as values vary greatly between US states.
In the first place in the ranking are anesthesiologists, with an average annual salary of US$ 261 thousand. Professionals trained in Brazil need to validate their diploma to work in the USA. A curious fact is that a Brazilian nurse can do a specialization course in the United States to work as an anesthesiologist, with an initial salary of US$ 172 thousand.
Other well-paid professionals are surgeons, who earn an average of US$ 252 thousand, and dentists, but these cannot validate the diploma in the USA and they need to go back to college, studying dentistry again for two or three years, depending on the state chosen. The average annual salary for a dentist is US$ 150 thousand and for an orthodontist it is US$ 230 thousand.
